After having a dental implant
- After dental implant surgery, there may sometimes be swelling, bruising, or pain in the implant treatment area due to edema. For this reason, applying an ice compress after implant application will eliminate or significantly reduce these complaints. It is important to apply an ice compress for the first 24 hours by repeating it at 3-5 minute intervals. Continuous and restless application of ice packs may lead to ice burn after the application, especially if the person is under anaesthesia.
- After the application, do not rinse your mouth with water or any mouthwash (unless your physician directs otherwise) for the first 2-3 days and do not spit. Otherwise, your bleeding will take longer to stop.
- We strongly recommend that you do not smoke during the healing period as it will delay the healing of the wound in the implant area.

- It is important to take care of nutrition after the application. Understanding how and what kind of nutrition affects wound healing is crucial. Especially in the first days, you should eat soft, warm foods without grains. Depending on the size of the implant application, you should avoid extremely hot foods for 3 to 10 days.
Oral care: Do not brush the implanted area for the first 3 to 7 days (this period may vary depending on the size and type of implant). Afterwards, brush with soft movements. Continue brushing your teeth outside the implant area as usual.
Sutures (stitches): Sutures are usually removed within 7-15 days under the supervision of your physician, or self- dissolving sutures can be used.
Medication use: Take the medications prescribed by your physician regularly as prescribed by your physician (antibiotics, painkillers, mouthwash, etc.).
Painkillers can alleviate your pain, but avoid using aspirin for 48 hours as it increases bleeding. If aspirin is used as a blood thinner, do not stop aspirin without consulting your medical doctor.
Check-ups: After the implant surgery, make sure that you have your check-ups at the times your physician tells you.
